The young and upcoming funk/soul singer Thom Hoorweg has signed at our very own Harlem Recodings for the release of his debut album Two Faced.
Jazz music runs through the Hoorweg veins with Thom’s father being a well-known jazz pianist and his sister being a successful singer. It’s no surprise that this has contributed to Thom’s rare soul-flavored neofunk jazz sound.
Thom has collaborated with some of the largest names in Dutch music for his album Two Faced. Besides Shirma Rouse, Phatt and Thom’s sister Kim, Thom has worked with members of Typhoon, Anouk, De Kernkoppen, Re:freshed Orchestra and the Metropole Orkest for this album.
The nineteen-year-old got together with Guus van der Steen (De Kernkoppen, Di-Rect) to write the lyrics for his debut album. The British soul singer Laura Vane also chipped in as you can hear on the track Norwegian Skies. Thom pays homage to one of his idols Steve Winwood on the track Keep On Running with nobody other than Martin Verdonk, who has played with Steve Winwood in the past.
